Case Study: HealthEquity Analyzer

TL;DR

HealthEquity is a nationwide provider of health and other savings accounts (HSA, FSAs, etc.).

In an effort to help clients save money while providing the best benefit offerings for their employees, HealthEquity created Analyzer, a platform to gather data about client and member benefit usage and make intelligent recommendations to incentivize members to engage in more self- and preventive health care activities.

My role was to work on early-concept designs and sketches to validate requirements and design direction.

Concept

Analyzer is a client-focused product built to leverage anonymous AI analysis of employee's spending behaviors, with the goal of making informed recommendations on how to boost employee self-care, engagement, and ultimately lower health costs. Today Analyzer stands as a proud member of the HealthEquity Assist family of products.

I was brought in during the starting phases of the project for ideation and sketching to help stakeholders make informed design decisions. This covered all sides of a system with exceptional breadth, which included in small part:

A reward system in which members could earn HSA cash rewards for engaging in healthier activities

Nudges and engagement prompts via email and push notification on mobile devices

Client dashboards for deep analysis into member health spending and behavior

Client interfaces for set up and management of reward systems

Reward Setup Design Concepts

With a reward program, clients can reward their employees for engaging in more preventive healthcare or other wellness activites. In the below example, a client sets up a $50 reward, payable to the employee's health reimbursement account, for completing a prediabetes screening.

Intelligent Engagement Design Concepts

Intelligent Engagement allows clients to set up specific goals and targets to guide employee behaviors and help drive down healthcare costs. The system could surface, for example, an unusual number of employees that do not currently have a primary healthcare provider.
