HealthEquity Health & Wellness Center

HealthEquity is a health-benefits company that manages health savings accounts (HSAs), flexible spending accounts (FSAs), and other types of reimbursement accounts. The HealthEquity Product teams spent considerable time exploring new directions that would drive the company forward by building member engagement, deepening outside partnerships, and encouraging member self-healthcare, which would help save the member (and the company) money.

The Health & Wellness Center was the result of one such brainstorming idea, one that as of this writing had not moved past the design exploration stage.

CONTEXT

The Health & Wellness Center would enable the HealthEquity mobile app to become a partner to the member, making intelligent recommendations and connecting members to appropriate care providers. This would help encourage healthier behaviors, drive member self-care, and strengthen HealthEquity as a source for whole health information. Employers could also set up a reward system whereby employees could earn a reward of extra funds into their HSAs by submitting proof of healthy habits, such as keeping an exercise log, completing an annual wellness doctor visit, etc.

As these ended as proofs of concept rather than a completed design, many of the examples shown are wireframes or gray-box mockups.

IDEATION

The home page of the Health & Wellness Center is where the member can find healthcare recommendations and reminders, incentives, and various methods to find a provider or connect directly with a provider for urgent care.

The member searches for a provider by simply entering the procedure or issue to be seen for and searches by location - the Wellness Center is already aware of the member's health network and will automatically filter to compatible providers

Once a provider is chosen, the member can schedule their next appointment without ever leaving the app

Self-evaluation quiz

One of the health partnerships being explored would allow a third party to make physical and mental health recommendations based on member demographics and health spending behavior, but could also be more narrowly tailored to the member's needs by encouraging the member to complete a self-evaluation quiz that would help identify further needs.

Benefits Genius

Benefits Genius was the concept name for an AI chat assistant that could answer common questions about your account or other employer benefits you may have.

Account rewards + scheduling (video)

Employers can set up reward reminders on a regular schedule. With the goal of enhancing the member experience and assisting them wherever possible, we can integrate the provider scheduling system so that the cognitive shift from accepting a reward challenge to scheduling a provider appointment is minimal.

Member receives an email that a previous reward is now even higher, to help them fulfill the challenge they can schedule an appoimtment without leaving the app
