HealthEquity: card lock

HealthEquity is a health-benefits company that manages health savings accounts (HSAs), flexible spending accounts (FSAs), and other types of reimbursement accounts. Most account holders are able to access and spend their funds via a debit-style card that is reserved for qualified medical expenses.
A small-yet-impactful and oft-requested feature that made its way to the product development roadmap, HealthEquity added the ability for a member to lock their account card if they suspected fraud, were traveling, wanted to control spending, etc. This was a huge boost for market parity and member self-service, saving money by reducing call volume to member support.
My responsibility was to take the initial requirements and explore design solutions, ensuring that we accounted for the many edge cases and errors that a member would likely encounter.
